Though she plans to try out for cheerleading, Louanne Pig helps her friend Arnie try out for football, with surprising results.

Louanne can't get off the ground with her split jumps. Arnie drops every pass he tries to catch. So every day after school, the two friends meet to practice for tryouts just one week away. The only problem is that neither Louanne's cheerleading routines nor Arnie's football skills seem to improve much. Will Louanne make the squad? Will Arnie make the team?
