This program tells the story of three women in Ethiopia suffering from devastating childbirth injuries. Rejected by their husbands and ostracized by their communities, the women are left to spend the rest of their lives in loneliness and shame. NOVA follows each of them on their journey to a special hospital in Addis Ababa where they find solace for the first time in years, and stays with them as their lives begin to change.
This documentary about Dr. Catherine Hamlin's work to help thousands of women affected by obstetric fistula is heartbreaking and hopeful.
