Miley Cyrus is an American actress and singer who first achieved fame in her dual role as Miley Stewart and Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel sitcom Hannah Montana. The show ran for multiple seasons and lead to the 2009 film Hannah Montana: The Movie. The Climb comes from the soundtrack to the film. This inspirational power ballad proved very popular around the world, reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and becoming a top-10 hit in multiple other countries.
In The Climb Cyrus sings about life as a challenging but rewarding journey. She reminds her listener that there will be many obstacles that appear to be in the way, but that these trials, and how you overcome them, are actually what you have to celebrate in your life.
Notes for Parents: The Climb provides an inspiring message about the value of strength and perseverance in the face of difficulty. It also celebrates that your response to the problems you encounter is as important as whether or not you succeed or fail in the face of them. The video alternates scenes of Cyrus travelling along a path through a valley and up a mountain with scenes from the film. It is suitable for all ages.
